The multidisciplinary blend of the Buffalo Environmental's technical staff is ideally suited to the comprehensive and systematic evaluation of environmental impacts resulting from a multitude of sensitive project areas. Buffalo Environmental professionals recognize the importance and value of the effective and timely identification and analysis of impacts and mitigation alternatives. It is this fundamental perception that directs the preparation of Generic, Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statement documents.
Our staff of highly qualified environmental analysts have extensive experience with the development and implementation of field investigation programs designed to identify potential impacts to groundwater, surface water, soil, and air quality caused by proposed actions. Trained professionals also assess and evaluate potential impacts to existing ecological, and socioeconomic conditions, and devise plausible mitigative alternatives.
The SEQR process uses the EIS to examine ways to reduce or avoid adverse environmental impacts related to a proposed action. This includes an analysis of all reasonable alternatives to the action. SEQR encourages communication among government agencies, project sponsors and the general public. Buffalo Environmental's capabilities are not limited to preparation of Part 360 permit applications, Environmental Assessment Forms, DEIS, and FEIS, but encompass the full range of services required to negotiate project specifics with the lead agency, regulatory personnel, local governments, and the public. Representatives of Buffalo Environmental are accustomed to attending and participating in public meetings and hearings, scooping sessions, and issues conferences that are often required as the SEQR process progresses.
BECI was instrumental in obtaining the approval of a complete DEIS, prepared for the expansion of a major Sanitary Landfill located in western New York. BECI has also been successful in obtaining negative declarations for a number of solid waste management facilities, including the Recyclables Handling and Recovery Facility, which service the City of Buffalo, New York.
BECI had conducted other environmental impact assessments for a number of major clients in the power industry, including Niagara Mohawk, New York State Electric & Gas, and Rochester Gas and Electric. These projects included the evaluation of environmental impacts on aquatic and terrestrial biological communities, air quality, and ground surface water quality associated with the development of nuclear, fossil fuel, and low head hydro power stations.
