Named for the majestic waterfalls that straddle the American-Canadian border, Niagara Falls, NY has been called an industrial center, tourist attraction, and the honeymoon capital of the world. Europeans first began to arrive in small numbers in the 1600s, and for some time, they mostly focused on the fur trade. The Town of Niagara was founded in 1812, and in 1892 the City of Niagara Falls was formed.
